Can stand-up comedy solve the world’s problems? Maybe it could if it tried, but it’s too busy being funny. But this comedy special sets out to do both! Two award-winning comedians - a Russian who spoke out against the war on prime time TV, and a Finnish TV comedy regular, are bringing 2 hours of their best jokes, stories, and unique views of the world.
Oleg Denisov, the Russian touring comedian known for making fun of Putin and the government, has moved (or, well, escaped) to Berlin, Germany in 2022. A week after the war started, he became one of the first Russian comedians to speak out against the war on prime time Western TV, when he performed a brutally hilarious set on the German comedy show "Die Anstalt" (ZDF). Since then the comic has been working as a screenwriter and performing in Europe and the UK. His new show "Escaped Artist" has just finished a full run at the famous Edinburgh Fringe festival. "Razor-sharp insight and rapid-fire laughs" (Manchester Evening News). ★★★★ “Hilarious… filled with brilliant jokes” (The Student Edinburgh) ★★★★ “A well-honed act, leaving the audience relaxed and hungry for the next killer line, the next exuberant punchline” (Mumble Comedy) ★★★★ "Fascinating comedian... cerebral and provocative" (The Edinburgh Reporter). Oleg has done 4 sold out shows in Turku before the pandemic.
Kaisa Pylkkänen was voted "Comedian of The Year 2020" in Finland, as well as being rewarded "Comedy Act of the Year 2020". She has performed in many different countries from her native Finland to the US, and is a founding member of the award winning comedy collective "All Female Panel". She is also known for her vast and well renowned work as a screenwriter in Finland. "Ready for Netflix" - Selma Vilhunen, Finland's Oscar nominee director 2019, Helsinki.
